In February, at a ceremony at the White House, President Obama presented RVI US Board member Kwame Anthony Appiah with the 2011 National Humanities Medal. The citation for the award praised Dr Appiah's work "seeking eternal truths in the contemporary world [in] books and essays [that] have shed moral and intellectual light on the individual in an era of globalization and evolving group identities."
