Research, public information, education and heritage in eastern and central Africa

The Rift Valley Institute is an independent, non-profit organization working with researchers and institutions across the region. Donations support our research, public dialogue, education and training, and the preservation of local knowledge.

Why support RVI

Founded in Sudan in 2001, RVI’s mission is to make local knowledge work: Advancing knowledge of the region through collaborative research, education and training, public information and dialogue, and the promotion of culture and heritage.

Individual donations allow us to undertake research on subjects that matter to communities, invest in African researchers and African authors, convene public dialogues and preserve cultural heritage.
