The conflict in Sudan, now in its fourth year, represents the most severe humanitarian and protection crisis in the world. Amid the worsening conflict, displacement, and human-caused famine, dedicated efforts by Sudanese civilians—from civil society to the Emergency Response Rooms and other coordination efforts—are innovating creative approaches to building pathways to peace.
On 10 September 2026, the Rift Valley Institute, in collaboration with the Global Centre for Pluralism, will launch the Global Pluralism Monitor: Sudan report. The forum will bring together civil society organisations, researchers, practitioners and policymakers working on Sudan to discuss the findings of the report, including the challenges Sudanese civil society is currently facing in its efforts to mobilize for peace and lay the foundations for a civilian-led democratic transition, as well as the opportunities to embrace a pluralism outlook in advocating and mobilizing for peace.
The forum will also explore the methodology used by the Global Pluralism Monitor in this study.
