Sharon E. Hutchinson is Professor Emerita of Anthropology and African Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Director of South Sudan Cultural Productions LLC, an independent book publishing company dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of South Sudanese wherever they may reside. Literate and fluent in both Arabic and Nuer, she is author of Nuer Dilemmas: Coping with Money, War and the State (1996, 2023) and numerous other publications documenting processes of socio-cultural, economic, political and religious change among diverse Nuer communities from 1930 through the present.
