This policy brief seeks to analyse the progress and challenges of Puntland’s democratisation process and, in so doing, help Somali and international stakeholders maintain momentum towards credible and peaceful elections. The policy brief provides an overview of TPEC III and the successful early elections as well as an analysis of the key challenges faced in the wake of the early elections and the longer-term obstacles to the democratisation process more generally.
The policy brief is produced in partnership between the Somali Dialogue Platform (a programme implemented by RVI that works to enable consensus on contentious issues in Somalia’ political settlement, through Somali-led dialogue and research) and Puntland Development Research Centre.
