South Sudan honours Kwacakworo

RVI Fellow Conradin Perner (Kwacakworo), was awarded the Yellow Star medal by the President of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit shortly after South Sudan's independence day. A renowned ethnographer of the Anyuak and a founder of the Gurtong Trust, Dr. Perner was the first recipient of the medal, based on the star in the flag of the new Republic of South Sudan. A Personal Life, the fourth volume of The Anyuak – Living on Earth in the Sky, Kwacakworo's projected eight-volume account of Anyuak culture, was published recently in Switzerland.
