Rift Valley Institute

Making local knowledge work

Would you like to work at the Rift Valley Institute? New positions September 2015

The Rift Valley institute is currently seeking new staff in several locations: Nairobi, Hargeysa and London. The posts include two mid-level management positions and an internship. RVI Executive Director John Ryle said 'This is a chance to join one of the hardest-working teams in Eastern Africa, helping to make useful, rigorously researched knowledge more widely available where it is most needed.'

The position of RVI Education Manager requires academic experience and managerial talent. The Education Manager will run the Institute’s annual training courses, which have set a gold standard in the region. They will also expand the Institute's education programme to include new courses and a digital learning platform. The work will be mainly in Eastern Africa; the post will be based either in Nairobi or in London. Applications by 30 September 2015.

The RVI Programme Manager for the Horn of Africa is a new post that involves management and development of RVI’s projects and programmes in the Horn, with an emphasis on the Somali Territories. This post will be based either in Nairobi, or in Hargeysa. It requires someone with experience of operational management in the region and a strong record of effective project management. Applications by 18 September 2015.

The new Intern at the Institute’s London office will follow in a long line of successful RVI interns, who are now working, variously, in business, diplomacy, research and high-end cookery—and for the RVI itself. This is a three-month post with a small daily transport allowance. Applications by 18 September 2015.
