The Rift Valley Institute is among the 50 leading think tanks in sub-Saharan Africa, according to the annual Global Go-to Think Tanks Report issued by the University of Pensylvania’s Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program. The research team identified approximately 6,603 public policy think tanks worldwide. These included 554 in Africa and 1,833 in the United States. The Brookings Institution in Washington DC was named as the world’s top think tank. The South African Institute of International Affairs was named as the top African think tank. The Rift Valley Institute was ranked 33rd.
