Every Day Is For the Thief

The Nigerian-American writer, photographer and art historian Teju Cole (@tejucole) was in conversation with John Ryle (@johnryle), Director of the Rift Valley Institute, at Bard College, New York State, on 16 April.

Born in the United States to Nigerian parents, Teju Cole was raised in Nigeria and moved back to the United States when he was 17. He currently lives in Brooklyn, in New York City. His novel Open City won the Hemingway Foundation/PEN Award in 2012 and was nominated for the US National Book Critics Circle Award for Best Fiction. His earlier book Every Day Is For The Thief, published in Nigeria 2007, is republished in the US and the UK this year.

The event was sponsored by Bard College Africana Studies, with the Chinua Achebe Center and the Rift Valley Institute.
