On Tuesday 3 May 2016, the Rift Valley Forum hosted a talk by Peter Biar Ajak on Understanding South Sudan Today. Drawing on his PhD research, his talk examined the history of the SPLM/A to explain the situation in South Sudan today.
Currently pursuing a PhD in Politics and International Studies at Cambridge University, Peter is a Co-Director for the International Growth Centre in South Sudan and Founder of the Juba- based Center for Strategic Analyses and Research. He was previously an economist with the World Bank, and was formerly a Coordinator of Policy and Strategy in the Office of the Minister of National Security in the Office of the President. Peter is also the CEO of South Sudan Wrestling Entertainment, a non-profit organisation that supports the indigenous form of the sport of wrestling to promote peace among South Sudan’s peoples.
