Kayd Somali Arts & Culture, an RVI partner organisation, will hold an Open Talk in London on 12 July with Professor Ahmed Samatar. The subject is the relationship between culture and development, and why it is important to preserve art and culture in the modern world. Professor Samatar is former Dean of the institute for Global Citizenship at Macalester College, Minnesota, and the author of The State in Africa: Reconsiderations and The Porcupine Dilemma: Governance and Transition in Somalia. He is the editor-in-chief of Bildhaan, the first international journal of Somali Studies.
