As part of secured funding from the EU to strengthen women’s research in South Sudan, RVI is pleased to invite applications for research grants. 

On 8 November RVI held a Forum ‘Understanding the Coup in Khartoum’ with speakers Kholood Khair, Eddie Thomas, Muez Ali, Sharath Srinivasan, Alden Young and Margie Buchanan-Smith. The following 5 points collates various comments made by the participants. 

This RVI Forum will discuss the current situation following the military coup, whether a military dictatorship is inevitable and the possible implications of it on domestic affairs and international support.

Sudan’s current legal framework for elections was devised during the CPA period (2005 – 2011), and subsequently amended. Alongside the specific electoral laws there are a number of other relevant laws and a significant body of rules that regulate the holding of elections.
